BASIC Exam Registration Eligibility
To register for the BASIC Examination, residents must:
- have satisfactorily completed 18 months of training including clinical base and clinical anesthesiology training. Residents who will complete this requirement before March 31 may register for the following summer BASIC Examination. Residents who will complete this requirement before Sept. 30 may register for the following fall BASIC examination.
- have graduated from a medical school in a state or jurisdiction of the United States or Canada that was accredited at the date of graduation by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools, or the American Osteopathic Association. Graduates of medical schools outside the jurisdiction of the United States and Canada must have one of the following: a permanent certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, comparable credentials from the Medical Council of Canada, or documentation of training for those who entered postdoctoral medical training in the United States via the Fifth Pathway as proposed by the American Medical Association.
