ABA LAUNCHES NEW LOGO AND WEBSITE

Raleigh, N.C. (March 30, 2015) – The American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) unveiled its new logo and website today on National Doctors’ Day, which has its roots in anesthesiology.

"The ABA has been setting the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology since 1938. However, the ABA's role has evolved from simply offering primary certification to one that awards subspecialty certifications and seeks to partner with physician anesthesiologists to maintain their medical knowledge from residency to retirement," said James P. Rathmell, M.D., Secretary of the Board. "The new logo is representative of this evolution."

The logo also serves to differentiate the ABA from other organizations that serve physician anesthesiologists and medical specialists. The design pays homage to the Board's history with its circular pattern, color scheme and font, and presents an openness that implies movement, representing the ABA’s desire to embrace collaboration and change.

In addition to launching the logo, the ABA also launched its new website, which has several user-friendly features, including quick links, a search box and exam-specific pages that allow users to find information they need in just one click. The site is mobile-friendly, which allows physicians and the public to get the same functionality on their tablets and cell phones as they do on a desktop. It also has a new "Ask the ABA" feature, where users can inquire about new ABA initiatives, policies and other topics. The site is supported by the following browsers: Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer version 9 or later.

The logo design and website were both fully designed and executed by ABA staff and did not require the use of outside communications or marketing agencies.
