Advance your career with multi-specialty training
How this works
We partner with other medical specialty certifying boards to provide multi-specialty training in emergency medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics. Participants can take the certifying exam for either board once they successfully complete training. These programs consist of a minimum of five years of residency training. Individuals who wish to apply to any approved program should contact the program directly.
Application guidelines
Programs interested in offering combined training must be ACGME-accredited and in good standing with their respective residency review committees. Residency programs seeking to offer combined training must be approved by the ABA and either ABEM (for Emergency Medicine), ABP (for Pediatrics) or ABIM (for Internal Medicine), before residents are recruited.
