ABA Signs onto Amicus Brief in New Hampshire Medical Terminology Case

RALEIGH, N.C. (July 23, 2020)

The American Board of Anesthesiology, alongside the American Board of Medical Specialties, has prepared an amicus brief in support of the New Hampshire Society of Anesthesiologists’ lawsuit against the New Hampshire Association of Nurse Anesthetists. The case seeks to prohibit nurse anesthetists from calling themselves nurse anesthesiologists, a term that suggests they are licensed to practice medicine, and to ensure that patients and other health care consumers are not misled concerning the qualifications of their health care providers.
