ABA to Attend ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2024
Raleigh, N.C. (Aug. 28, 2024) – The American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) is presenting and exhibiting at ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2024, the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ annual meeting to connect with board-certified anesthesiologists, residents and medical students Oct. 18 through Oct. 21 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
During their workshop entitled “It’s Validity, Not Wizardry: Demystifying Exam Creation and Scoring,” ABA Director Mohammed Minhaj, M.D., and Chief Assessment Officer Ann Harman, Ph.D., will provide clarity and insight into the rigorous psychometric processes behind the development and scoring of our written and APPLIED certification exams. They will walk through the exam journey from the initial development of a content outline to the multi-step scoring process.
Members of ABA’s Board of Directors will provide insightful updates at two House of Delegate sessions including Resident House of Delegates, Saturday, Oct. 19, 9:30-10:20 a.m., ABA Board Directors Stacie Deiner, M.D., M.S. and Christian Diez, M.D., MBA, will discuss the resident journey, sharing what to expect during the initial certification process and how we support board-certified anesthesiologists throughout their career.
In addition, during the Medical Student House of Delegates, Sunday, Oct. 20, 9:15-9:30 a.m., ABA Board Directors Stacie Deiner, M.D., M.S., and Stephanie B. Jones, M.D., will share what to expect from the ABA as they prepare for residency and look toward achieving board certification.
Our Physician Engagement Specialists will be onsite at booth #8093 throughout the conference to answer questions regarding board certification and MOCA requirements. They will be distributing two new sock designs available for board-certified physicians, as well as a new design specifically for residents and fellows. Board-certified anesthesiologists can also pick up a pin at the booth to proudly display their board certification.
The ABA will host two focus groups during the conference, one for board-certified anesthesiologists and another for residents to provide feedback on the value of board certification, how the ABA can best give support in lifelong learning and how our resources are utilized.
The focus group designed for resident feedback will take place Saturday, Oct. 19, 7-8 a.m. at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown Hotel.
The focus for board-certified anesthesiologists will occur Sunday, Oct. 20, 7-8 a.m., also at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown Hotel.
