About
Setting standards and leading innovation for the practice of anesthesiology since 1938
At its 2025 fall meeting, the ABA Board of Directors approved officer, chair and committee assignments for ABA directors. Our 20 exam committees are made up of more than 150 board-certified anesthesiologists from across the country who support all aspects of the ABA’s certification process and help drive our mission to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology. They are a significant part of the 700+ physician volunteers who support a wide range of activities, including item writers and examiners.
“The ABA’s work goes far beyond initial certification and MOCA. It invests in innovation, programming and services for the benefit of diplomates and the patients they serve,” says ABA Secretary John E. Fiadjoe, M.D., MBA. “Our committees and task forces are the engines of our strategic progress, and we simply could not deliver the tremendous number of things we do without their hard work and the support of our entire volunteer network.”
