The ABA to Present and Exhibit at ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2026

Raleigh, N.C. (Oct. 5, 2026) – The American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) will share expertise and connect with board-certified anesthesiologists, residents and medical students at ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2026, the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ annual meeting, Oct. 16-20 at the San Diego Convention Center.

ABA Secretary John Fiadjoe, M.D., MBA, and Board Director Vivek K. Moitra, M.D., will host a presentation titled “The ABA: Not Just Exams: License Actions, Research, Assessment Innovation and Much More” Sunday, Oct. 18, 8-9 a.m. PST. During their session, they will discuss the research, innovation and policies affecting board-certified anesthesiologists, offering an inside look at topics including less visible aspects of the certification journey, credentialing case reviews, how state licensure actions affect certification, assessment innovations and the ABA’s future directions. Board-certified anesthesiologists are eligible to receive one continuing medical education (CME) credit for attending.
Diplomates can find identified patient safety courses to complete the 10 patient safety CME requirements every 5 years. Attendees can find a full list of ABA-approved patient safety courses being hosted at the meeting here.

Representatives from the ABA’s physician engagement and credentialing teams will be onsite at Booth 1057 to answer questions pertaining to board certification and MOCA requirements. Attendees who stop by the booth will find informative resources, including a journey to board certification timeline to guide residents, created with input from the ABA’s Resident Advisory Group.

At this year’s meeting, the ABA will also be celebrating the 10th anniversary of MOCA Minute®. In the decade since the ABA first launched MOCA Minute, this innovative longitudinal assessment has transformed continuing certification for board-certified anesthesiologists. MOCA Minute set the standard for broader adoption across the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) community. The ABA will mark 10 years of MOCA Minute with attendees over free coffee, anniversary-themed giveaways and limited-edition socks.

ABA team members look forward to engaging with the anesthesiology community at the conference as they share information, celebrate innovation and offer insights into how board certification helps advance the highest standards in the practice of anesthesiology.
