Apply to Write Questions for Our Exams

We’re seeking question writers for MOCA Minute (including the subspecialty MOCA Minute committees) and our exams (ADVANCED, BASIC, Adult Cardiac Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, Pain Medicine and Pediatric Anesthesiology). Current question authors do not need to reapply. Writers will be responsible for preparing multiple-choice questions from assigned content areas and will be paired with experienced question editors who provide guidance and feedback.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Have a valid, unexpired certification in anesthesiology or the subspecialty for which you are seeking to write questions
    • If interested in writing questions for the BASIC or ADVANCED exams or for MOCA Minute, board certification in anesthesiology for at least one year
    • If interested in writing questions for one of the subspecialty exams or for a subspecialty MOCA Minute committee, board certification in anesthesiology for at least two years
  • Not participate in activities that may constitute a conflict of interest, such as exam review courses for which a fee is charged
  • Be participating in MOCA during your entire service term as an ABA volunteer

STEP 1 – COLLECT CHECKLIST ITEMS

Please submit an online application providing two original assessment questions, demographic information and details on why you’d like to volunteer. If you are applying to write questions for multiple assessments, you will be required to submit two sample questions for each assessment.

You must complete and submit the application in one sitting. The system will not save your progress. To help you prepare, we’ve created a checklist of application requirements and question development tips. Please review the checklist before starting your application.
